School Lunch / Packed Lunch

Roding is part of the Local Authority catering contract and school meals are provided by ISS Caterhouse. All dinner monies must be paid in advance on Monday morning. Children will not be entitled to a school dinner where families do not pay off outstanding dinner money arrears. It will be expected that parents/carers provide a packed lunch for their child. Parents/carers may pay for half a term or the whole term in advance should they wish to do so.

The school has its own kitchen where hot lunches are served every day. There is a daily choice, which includes two vegetarian dishes.

In order to give all children a wide choice of meal during the week, classes go in to lunch on a rota basis.

The current price of school meals is £2 per day or £10 per week. All money must be put in a sealed envelope with the child’s name and class and handed in on Mondays. The envelope should be posted into the box on the wall in the reception area. No cash will be held in reception, so you will need to have the correct money.  We would appreciate your help with this, as our aim is to make the receipt of monies as secure as possible, whilst reducing the waiting time to speak to our receptionists.

ISS Education are our catering providers and offer an online payment service.  Cypad is the online payment system which offers freedom to pay for your child’s meals by credit or debit card and to view your account balance.  It is a straight forward, secure and easy system to use.  Furthermore, once registered, you will be automatically reminded when your balance falls below £5 to remind you to top up your account.

The school receives additional funding, called the Pupil Premium, for children who receive free school meals, and this enables us to provide more activities in school and also to help parents with costs towards school trips & activities. So please apply even if your child prefers a packed lunch or has universal free school meals.

Packed lunches

Children, who wish, may bring a packed lunch to eat in the small hall.

Cold drinks may be brought in plastic flasks or bottles.

No glass containers or canned or fizzy drinks are to be brought to school. No hot drinks or soups are permitted.

All lunch boxes should be clearly marked with your child’s name.

Nuts and Pineapple

We are a ‘nut aware’ and a ‘pineapple’ free school.  This means that no ‘mainly nut’ foodstuffs or any pineapple should be brought to school.  We do have some children who have serious allergies and even a small accidental encounter with nuts or pineapple can have very serious consequences for them.  Please adhere to this when sending in a snack or packed lunch for your child.   Thank you.

We are happy to try and help with any queries regarding school meals, however, in the first place, please do contact ISS Caterhouse
