Outdoor Learning
At Roding Primary School, we are committed to enriching our curriculum through meaningful outdoor learning experiences that inspire curiosity, resilience, and a connection with nature. Our outdoor learning approach provides pupils with opportunities to develop their academic, physical, and emotional well-being while fostering a deep appreciation for the environment.
We are fortunate to have access to a spacious field, which serves as an excellent resource for sports, team-building activities, and hands-on exploration of the natural world.
Our forest area which backs onto our playground, allows for forest learning opportunities, where pupils develop practical skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility through activities like fire safety, nature observation and poetry.
Our school grounds also feature a mound and we currently run a 'Green Gym' club which gives children the opportunity to explore the natural world. These varied spaces enable us to promote outdoor learning across the curriculum, supporting subjects such as science, English, geography, art, and physical education in dynamic, real-world contexts.
Through outdoor learning, we aim to empower pupils to think critically, collaborate effectively, and nurture their sense of wonder. By embedding outdoor experiences into everyday learning, we prepare our pupils for a lifetime of discovery, resilience, and environmental stewardship.
