BSL Level 1

BSL Level 2

For those candidates that already have a BSL Level 1 qualification or are seeking a more advanced qualification, we are also inviting candidates to apply for a BSL Level 2 course through the same application form. The availability of this course is dependent on a minimum of 8 candidates registering for the course. If this is something you are interested in, please complete the application form and return to nilesh.pandya@rodingprimary.co.uk, as soon as possible. We will keep you informed about whether it is possible to run this course or not.

Key Information

  • The BSL Level 1 course costs £405 for the full year which includes a full 32 week face-to-face course based at Roding Primary School for 2 hours each week including all resources required. This is, on average, over 20% cheaper than most other colleges offering the course.
  • The BSL Level 2 course costs £550 for the full year which includes a full 33 week face-to-face course based at Roding Primary School for 3 hours each week including all resources required. This is again, on average, over 20% cheaper than most other colleges offering the course.
  • Assessments take place three times across the year in order to complete the course. Fees for this are in addition to the above course fees and are £20, £35 and £35 (BSL Level 1) and £40, £50 and £50 (BSL Level 2) respectively and are payable prior to sitting these exams.
  • Assessments are fully accredited by Signature, the leading awarding body for deaf communication qualifications in the UK. Further details about Signature can be found here. We are a fully accredited BSL training centre, as approved by Signature.
  • A deposit of £40 (BSL Level 1) or £55 (BSL Level 2) is required to secure your place. This will be invoiced to you once the course details are confirmed and we receive your application form and must be paid before the first day of the course.
  • It is anticipated that the first week of the course will either be the w/c 10th or 17th of September 2018 and will run on the same day each week during school term times. Sessions will not take place during the school holidays.
  • The maximum number of places on offer per course is 12.
  • Children between the age of 11 and 18 are welcome to attend. However, any children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent; either on a supervisory basis or as a fully registered candidate.
  • If there is enough interest in running the course on more than one day, then we are open to having a second course running on a different day of the week, however that is dependent on there being enough places being taken to fill the places.

You can find the qualification specifications and advertisements for the two BSL courses below, plus a map showing the possible progression routes for BSL and how this might help you in your career. In addition, you will be able to find the Application Form for you to complete and return. We request that all application forms are returned by August 29th 2018 so we may finalise details after a further week, however we will consider application after this date, if you are unable to meet this deadline.
