‘You've Got Dragons’
On Thursday 22nd March 2018 some of our children went to see a show at Broadway Theatre in Barking. It was called, ‘You've Got Dragons’ which is based on the book by Kathryn Cave. The show was written especially for deaf children and incorporated British Sign Language.
The children all had fun and enjoyed their experience of going to the theatre.

On Tuesday 20th February 2018, we had some visitors from Deaf Child Worldwide. They had come all the way from Africa and were keen to see how our Deaf children are educated at Roding. They were amazed at how hard all the teachers work to ensure all the needs of our children are met. They were really impressed with our displays and the wonderful resources our children have to learn with.
In Kenya deaf children have to choose between going to a special school just for deaf children or in a mainstream school but with very little support. Even in the school for Deaf a teacher may have to teach up to 40 deaf children all in one class. Some children are not able to reach the School for the deaf as they live so far away from the schools. They think deaf children in England are very lucky.
They were very impressed to see how Roding educates our deaf and hearing children together and were impressed by how well our children work together. They are hoping to take back to Kenya some of the things they have learned from their visit and maybe we will see some of our ideas and practice reproduced in their country.
